3BM are proud to announce the completion of our specialist Sport and Science block at Sacred Heart High School, Hammersmith. The £8.4m purpose built building is set within the grounds of a Grade II* listed building dating back to 1884, which was designed by John Francis Bentley.
The design of the Specialist Sports and Science block had a number of challenges in order to respond existing to the listed buildings and its formal garden context. The new building sits seamlessly within the historic formal tree lines dating back to the 1800’s and takes its external architectural language from the intricate formal detailing and cloister arrangements of the existing vSchool buildings.
With state of the Art Science labs, Dance studio and Sports Hall the new building is now fully operational. The external landscape encompasses external sports facilities and recreational space.
The project demanded lots of engagement with both English heritage and local stakeholders, and has proved a great accomplishment which couldn’t have been achieved without the close collaboration between Sacred Heart High School, 3BM and Bowmer and Kirkland who where the main building contractor.
